I need to get new rear tires and was wondering how wide I could go on 7.5" rims. Would a 235 fit ok?

Wussup. Damn you still have your car? Don't go over a 225 on a 17 or 18.

I would not go 235, but it depends on the profile of the tire. Look on tire rack under "specs" for a tire model you are interested in. It will give you the range of acceptable rim widths for the tire. Keep in mind that it's better to use a tire that is close to the rim width (215 or 225 on 7.5" width).

Thanks, I checked tire rack. Looks like I'll be going 225. Yeah Rishie, I still have the car. Can't sell it. I never see any around, and if I do, not clean. I like being different. I gotta get rid of these rims though. Want to get some 17" Rotas. Think you could sell my rims and cut me a deal on some Rota Attack or something along those lines? I'm looking for a lighter rim than what I have right now. Something like what Seth has on his yellow fc or the Rota's I mentioned above. PM me if you can help me out. Thanks.

It also depends on the tire brand and you can go up to 245 on some brand on a 7.5in rim. When I worked at the repair center, I mounted 255 tires on 16 x 7 in mustang pony rims without any problems.

Hmm..., interesting , my 225 Goodyears on my probe look as wide as the 265 Kumos on my Rx, so i can believe it.
I want those Rota wheels but dont want skinny tires so what tire would be best on a 7.5 inch rim? Toyo ,S03 or even a autox/sreet tire, anybody??

If you dont mind some buldging you can fit 245/255 on 7.5/8" rims. but a 225 looks fine.

You should check the tire manufacturer's specs. FWIW, I wouldn't go wider than a 225 mm
