Question How much of a drop with 18's?

I just bought Tanabe springs. These springs are, I believe, a 2" drop. (I thought I heard somewhere that they were actually a 1.6" but I do not know) I do not want to install these if it will rub. The rims I'm using are 18x8.5 (225/40) for the front and 18x9.5 (265/35) for the rear. Offsets are +45 to 47. I also just purchased Tokico struts so I can control the rebound a little. I really don't want to install these springs just to take them back out. Does anyone have these springs or have experience lowering there 7 on 18's? Someone said that I could put the 18's on without lowering it and I would have NO wheel gap!!!??? Any help is appreciated.

Overall tire diameter will determine tire clearance NOT wheel diameter.

I have 18x9's with a 43 offset with
265/35s on the rear. I have H%Rs
which dropped the car 7/8 in.
No rubbing.

Well, Tananbe Super Precedeo Down only drops 25mm up front, 28 mm in back....which is just over an inch (1 in = 25.4 mm). So, its not that bad...my bro has them on his car and he has 18 in wheels....

Really!? Why do I always hear that it is a 2" drop? That is originally why I bought them. I used to have a Probe and bought Eibach .8" springs for it. You couldn't even tell that it was lowered so I decided that if I'm going to drop it I want to get rid of the wheel gap this time. I was thinking of selling my Tanabe springs before I even put them on because I finally realized that if it was 2" it would probably be too much. If it is a little over an inch I will definately keep them. Where did you find that info??? THANKS!!!

If you have a fast connection then check out http://home.sport.rr.com/fd3s/ . I have 18s with stock springs and shocks for the moment (touring). There is a bit of gap in the rear, but not bad. I guess that is why most kits drop the rear more than the front.

What size tires do you have? Are they the same as mine? Would you do me a favor by measuring how much clearance you have? If lowered, your rims would tuck in the wheel wells right?

I have 235/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 in back. Do you mean vertical clearance (wheel well gap), or lateral clearance (as in fender rub)?

Do you have stock springs too? I want to know both. Give me all the numbers you have because I want to know everything before I drop all this money to put them on just to find out that I have t take them off.
