How low can I go?

hi, I bought another set of 18x8 rims with 215/35 tires. The key question is How Low Can I Lower An 89 GXL with 18x8's with 215/35's on it? I finally have the money to swing a set of coilovers... I looked at shox.com and seen the ground control coilover kit, 4 for $399 with 0-2" adjustable. Is this a good kit/deal? If any knows of any other good kits that they would recommend for my situation, advice would be appreciated =)

-Thanks

From the tire size, I assume that's an FC Rx7?

That is the beauty of coil-overs. You can get them, start with a small drop, and then work your way down if you want to. If you run into trouble (rubbing), raise it back up a little and stop.

That is true, but i could possibly save a hundred bux or so by not buying the set with the most drop. Lets just say the car will rub after 1" drop. Whats the point of buying a set that drops 2" and costs more and will never be lowered any more than 1"? I might be making sense, i might not ;P

I doubt you will get over 2" of drop, but it is somewhat possible that you'll get over 1". A lot of the adjustment range depends on what spring rates you get, and I don't think anyone makes any coil-overs that only adjust 1". The GC setup from shox.com (or ARD T2 here in the forum) sounds like a good bet. GC doesn't include shocks or struts, so you'll have to use what you've got or get new ones, which may affect the total price.
