Help me with my dirty wheel dilemma!!!

Recently, I bought a used set of wheels and in the pictures I thought it was just brake dust that would be easily cleaned. Unfortunately, it has been a seemingly impossible task to get these wheels clean. In fact, the list of things I have used to try and cleans them will make you guys cringe... First off, I tried normal car wash stuff with a car sponge, nothing. Then I used a scub like you would use on dirty dishes, nothing. Then I tried CLR, didn't work. Brake cleaner and rust remover, still hardly any progress! I began scraping with a razor blade and I can remove small chunks of the rust/dirt stuff that is stuck on the wheel, but I often scratch the wheel where the normal metal is exposed. I have put brake fluid and scrubbed with steel wool and have removed some of the dirt from the wheels. Even still, the wheels are not getting clean. I am not sure what else to use that will get this stuff off! Has somebody else ever had brake dust like this, or can help me?

that needs to go to the sand blasters. that's some hardcore pitting, some of the worst I've seen and I worked in a wheel repair shop! Do you have U-blast type of places? Where you can bring in an item and blast it yourself?

Oh, and use walnut shells or glass beads. NOT sand.

Yup, take them and get them media blasted and powder coated. I had a set done locally and cost roughly $65.00 a wheel to blast and powder coat.

ya, it may suck but think.. now you can choose any color you want. like bronze/gunmetal. that always looks sweet on a red car.

powdercoating is a lot cheaper that some people know. there is one place local to me that will do all 4 for $100 cash, provided there are not blemishes. like they ONLY need to bead blast them and not make any repairs.

I had this done to my old skyline stock wheels and it made them look brand new... and held up to winter driving.
