Help finding a wheel by description

I've got it pretty much determined what I'm doing suspension wise, but I can't find a wheel that meets my cosmetic preferences and also meets spec requirements.

I want something in a 17" size that is relatively light and available in up to 10" wide. I plan to run a 255 front and 275 rear (sidewall undetermined) with Tein Flex coilovers. I don't know what offset I need or how to determine that, so I can't list a specific figure for that at this point.

Cosmetically, I know I want a black wheel in either gloss or matte. My favorite wheels that I've seen are Volk CE28N's, but the price is crazy. In searching this and other forums for pictures I've found a few wheels that look great, but that I had no way to identify. No multi-color wheels please. I don't enjoy flashy chrome lips or anything like that, just looking for a solid black wheel of virtually any spoke style or configuration. I'd like to keep the price under $1500.00 for a set. Any suggestions on wheels to look into or how to determine offset/sidewall for my application are appreciated.

Thanks

Unless you get something used, I seriously doubt you are going to find a set of rims which include a 17x10 size for $1500. Generally, you will be looking at least in the $2000 range for a set a rims that include a 17x10.

ccw's are a little more than your budget but they are super nice.
check www.rbmotoring.com and www.pandagarage.com for used jdm wheels in the sizes youre looking at, kinda hard to find a 17x10 but theyre are plenty of 18x10 or 17x9 out there.

and uh, what chassis do you have?

You'll probably end up w/ a 9.5" rear with Japanese wheels, as they rarely offer 10" wheels.... but that's fine for a 275. You'll want an 8.5" minimum, 9" ideally for the 255 front. Sidewalls will be 40-series front and rear.

5zigen FNO1Rc looks great and price is right. It's going on an FD.

Here are some pics from another member with them to give you an idea of what you'll end up with (maybe not exact wheels sizes though, but in look of the car):

And the "FD" part. +17 won't work.

It looks like I'll be picking up the following:

Tein Flex coilovers (560/450)
Toe link & Trailing arm kit
5zigen FNO1Rc's in 17x10 and 17x9
XXX tires in 255/40 and 275/40

The only thing I need to determine before ordering is what offsets I need front and rear. Can anyone point me in the right direction there?

Thanks for all of the help.

Sure. Read one of several fitment threads that I, Mahjik, Ptrhahn, or ARD T2 have commented in.

The FN015-C does not have FD friendly options in the 17x10 size. Your only real option is to run the 17x9 +43 offset all around. I would run 255/40 17 all around with that setup. If you want wider wheels that actually fit, you're going to have to pony up more cash.

17x8.5 F +48 245
17x9.5 R +43 265

Good call, Mahjik. I think you have a thing for those wheels.... :p

Just to add, those would be 245/40 and 265/40 tires. 275/40 would also be possible with those rears. 255/40 is possible up front with the 8.5s, but is really too wide to be a good fitment on that rim.

A 17x8.5 with 245/40's and a 17x9.5 with 275/40's seems like the way to go. Just out of curiosity, would a 17x9 with 255/40's and a 17x9.5 with 275/40's also be possible/plausable?

Thanks again.

Yeah, but you would need to find a wheel available in that combination, which would be pretty rare...

Best I can tell the GN+ doesn't come in black, as the hyper black is actually a gunmetal type color. Since the FNO1RC doesn't come in the correct offsets I'm back to square 1. Has anyone run across any other matte or gloss black wheels available in either 8.5/9.5 or 9/10 with correct FD offsets? I may have to give up on black and go to something more common, but I'd like to think there is something out there without having to take a second job to afford them.

And where are enkei RPF1's (suggested on page 1) available in black from? I really like these wheels but don't see black as an available color anywhere.

You can always have the wheels powder coated to whatever color you like.

Some pics of powder coated Volks:

Indeed. Straight black is a rare color, and you've already got price/size constraints.

You'd be best off finding the wheels that work and powder coating them.

It looks like I've found something that will work for me. Enkei RPF1's in 17x8.5 +40 and 17x9.5 +38. I'll have them powdercoated black, and run a 255 front and 275 rear. Any reason this combination would be less than favorable? Should I expect to have to roll the fenders for proper fitment?

You buying the set for sale in the eastcoast section?

I sound like a broken record, but I think you should roll the front fenders for ANY lowered FD running aftermarket wheels.

How about some 17" volk gt-n's? I had them powdercoated black, 9" wide in front +44 offset w/ 255/40 kuhmo mx, 10" rears +41 w/ 275/40 mx . No fender rolling necessary. They will be for sale mid/late october.......

A +40 with 255 in the front. You will absolutely need to roll the fenders unless you jack the car up like a 4x4.
