Help with buying 18's....can i?

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...&threadid=41789

i loked at this thread,

i am just wondering if i can do this.

a friend of mine has a 1st gen eclipse, i think the bolt patern is the same, but i am curious about the offset. can i buy his set of 18's from him and put them on my car with no problem ( i am refering to a FD)? He is willig to sell them to me for cheap. the question i have also is....i have a 1in drop on my car using springs. i have noticed that on the driver side the inside plactic liner has rubbed completely away, and the the passenger is not far from it. (it may be the other way around) but either way, i amjust curious if i can use his 18's....th tires on there are 225x40.

any comments on this question will be appriciated as i am not a big "rim" guy and dont know anything about the compatibiliy of different offsets and things of this nature.

well definetly not with 40 sidewalls, try 35 up front with a 30 in the rear. You should be OK then.

Need the Brand and Model of the wheel. Just tell me if it has multiple boltpattern. If so, don't put it on. End of story.

But seriously, there's a 90% chance that it's an 18,7.5 which is a thinner wheel than your stock 16". Most likely it won't sit nicely. I made my assumptions based on the easy fitments for an Eclipse. You can put 8's but few do.

No definites unless the offset or brand and model of wheel are known.

You can't just say 30 or 35 series. That's an arbitrary statement as it's called the aspect ratio and is dependent on the width of the tire. You might know this, but I don't want any newbies to get this very important term misunderstood.

By the way, you should run a 235/40 in the front. That would be the next best with the 245/35 as number one. But that all depends on the given width of the wheel.
