hawk HPS vs HP+
i forget if i bought the HPS or the HP+ for my 88 vert.
boy do they feel awesome.. i installed them along with SSB dot app. lines and slotted/cross drilled rotors. what a difference my old pads would really get brake frade on all the hills here in northern CA after awhile of hard driving..now they never fade with the type of driving i do. (no track) hawk says their noisey and dusty, noisey? who cares about a little brake noise with an rx7. and btw i dont hear them. but the dust. i love my verts rims and keep them clean on a daily basis. this sucks from the brake dust that they produce.. but hey.. everythings a circle in life so you have to give to take. hawk says the HPS are low dust. if i have the HPS than damn i would hate to see the HP+. now iam starting to know why they made black rims

I haven't tried the HPS but currently have HP+ and I stopped washing the wheels because it only takes 5 min for them to get filthy. There is no noise and they grab twice as hard as OEM (my own guesstimate). If you don't track the car get the S.

In my experience, the HP+ squeal like a ****, so much so that I uninstalled them in favor of some EBC Yellows. The HP+ had great initial bit and worked well during repeated 125+ highway stops, but the noise was just too much for me. Around town it would echo off of the buildings.......

I went from HPS to HP+ and although they do bite hard, the squeal and ESPECIALLY the dust, is alot worse than the HPS were. I kept my HPS pads being they are still good and I may need to reinstall them someday if the squeal and dust gets too annoying. Actually they only squeal at low speeds and at slight pressures, like stop and go traffic. Right now I'm use the car 90% of the time for autox so it's not a big deal. However if I were to go to say a car meet or something like that, I would be sure and bring rags and quick detailer for the dust.

I wonder if the Hawk pads dust more with drilled or slotted rotors than they would with blanks? Pretty much all of my cars have HP+ pads in conjunction with Brembo blanks. My bf used the same combo on his Targa Newfoundland Rally racecar and they performed magnificently all week long.

They perform pretty well on the street, although they dont bite like the HP+. They're very quiet and don't dust well, and haul the car down from high speeds pretty damn well. Right now my brake fluid is filthy (I'm going to flush it once I install my Racing Brake BBK) so I'm sure the pads aren't performing to their full abilities, I have gotten them to fade after repeated 120 to 40 stops....

But they don't squeak at all for me. Perhaps it's because I reused my stock pad shims, or maybe I'm just a way better mechanic.
Overall, the HP+ bites pretty hard, but they do dust quite a bit. The good news is the dust wipes right off with water, but if you brake hard and often you'll be seeing a light layer of dust after just a few hard stops.

Yeah, then he sold those HP+'s to me, the dirty beggar.

Mine have never squeeked. I broke them in per instructions and used lots of grease. I used the Green pads on my CRX and they warped the rotors twice. I got very little use out of them before I threw them away. I put OEM pads back in and never turned the rotors again.
