Question Has anyone run 'Blem' (blemished) tires before?

As I understand it 'blems' are functionally no different from their counterparts but have cosmetic imperfections, be it incorrect sidewall stamping or coloring imperfections. They are perfectly safe to use, and were allowed to leave the factory with all warranties intact.

This is what I have been told anyway. My dad ran blems on his L88 1966 Vette back in the 80s with no problems. Can anyone shed more light on the subject?

I work at a big wheel and tire importer in my country and I have seen blemished or buffed tires. If the problem is in the tread, a little burnout or maybe heavy braking (no abs) will "wash" away the problem area and the tire will be regular again.
Any imperfections anywhere but the tread area, do not change the tire characteristics at all.

Blems are typically cosmetically imperfect tires that are sold at a significant discount. Tire manufacturers will not intentionally sell an unsafe tire because of huge liability issues.

Blems are OK.

I have never seen these 'blems' for sale before. Where do you get ahold of them?

try this link:

or, search for username jtbdj5.

He seems to primarily have BFG KDs.....I got a set up 245/40 and 275/40/17s for only $475! To compare, Tirerack sells them for $860. They came boxed up and look new and ready to mount
