Handling differences - 17's vs 18's

Curious what the pool of wisdom brings to bear here....

Im considering going 18's but feel like it would make the car a bit sluggish going into turns.

Any experiences?

Thanks!

Steve

There is no reason for the car on 18's to be sluggish going into corners UNLESS you increase the diameter of the wheel/tire combo.

I would worry more about streetability on 18" wheels. The tires should be looked at as being part of the suspension. When you go 18" the sidewalls get very short and since they are so short they must be made very stiff. Otherwise if the sidewall flexed anything like your stock 16" tires, they would bottom on road ripples and destroy your wheels in short order.

So, you get much stiffer sidewalls which will result in a much stiffer ride. I personally run 17" wheels with stock diameter tires and think that I would not want to go any stiffer for street driving.
