Got some new wheels and tires today...

Well I got new wheels and tires today...

They are 18x10.5 SSR Comp-H's +43 with 285/30 ADVAN Neova AD07s. I plan to powder coat the wheels gloss black or some type of gun metal.

Here are the new goods..

Compared to 225s from bimmer...

One of the car with the old wheels...

So what color do you guys think I should have them powder coated?

thanks poopy.

i am not a huge fan of bronze on red fds.

i totally agree that black is played out. but most people have black with polished lips. i am going to be doing one color. i think the gloss black would give the car a low key race look. the gun metal would probably do the same but i was thinking the black would look better with the windows and tail lights.

but i dont know all black is a big statement. although i think it would look very cool it might look ghetto to most people?

heres the darkness:

most people would probably assume you just sprayed them flat black.

it definitely wouldn't look bad though. it might even accenuate your calipers and rotors.

if that's what you want, i say go for it!

Sorry, I think the colored lip looks like ***.

How are you planning on fitting these wheels up front? I assume you have rolled the rear fenders.

I don't think it's going to work....AMDRX7 ran race tires only, which are smaller in diameter than street tires of the same size. He also only ran those wheels for auto-x with STIFF springs, and not on the street. Good luck!

They may not I plan to roll both front and rear as much as possible and remove the fender liner bolt and see what happens.

From what I can tell the advans have 24.8 diameter and the hoosiers have a 24.6. I am running the apexi exv with 12kg spring rates.

Try running a reasonable ride height (25.5") first. I'm just trying to picture my wheel sticking out another full inch+ and I can't see how it would not be lunching the fender on any kind of compression during a turn.

those are so nice its not even funny... i just picked up some SSR Gt2s for my ride... I think you should leave them the stock color though... Im not a big fan of black wheels. I guess gunmetal wouldnt be too bad though.

not a bad way to spend 1200 dollars on just tires....

steve, aren't these offered in +50mm? you should have gotten those. i can't see them fitting 285's all around with +43mm.
I have +42mm SSRs 17x9.5 and i tried them up front and they are flush, if not sticking out by a C hair, and mine has 1 inch smaller width. I have pics if you want to see.

rear fenders rolled.
fronts not really. the screws in the front fenders were hitting when i put the 9.5's up front. ride height 26". but my tires are taller than yours (25.6 inches approx, 275-40-17) but so is my ride height.

maybe just sell the fronts, and go with narrower wheel/tire up front. run staggered setup.

you can get a 265/35 but isnt that like 25.2 in height?
although stretched over a 10.5 it woul look good and give you the needed clearance at the sides.

love those wheels/tires, I'll be running the same front tires this year.

I think you should paint them a very dark silver color, like the BBC style rims SSR offers, its like a brilliant silver or something almost llike brushed metal, not sure, never seen it in person.

your FD is drop dead gorgeous by the way, holy fawk those pics are just perfect!
love the wingless look too.
cant wait to see it on these new wheels!

UPDATE:

Here are the pictures of the test fitting. Still need to roll the fenders. The wheel was turned slightly in the pics I didn't notice until after. Do you guys think I can make it work?

Well, rolling the front fenders isn't going to help, since the tire will hit the fender lip itself. Don't think it's going to be real drivable...run a high ride height and hope for the best I guess.

can you adjust in some negative camber?
that may help a little combined with a safe ride height you may be all set.

good luck, it looks pretty beefy!

rynberg - you don't think with a roll/pull job they will be damn close? also how much camber is considered to be a good street/track setup? i already run a pretty reasonable ride height and 12kg springs. like i posted on the first page of the thread AMRX7 seemed to think this setup worked so i am still optimistic.

also thanks owen.
