GAB Super-R shocks for FD3S

Has anyone used these on a street driven car (FD)? I just got a set but don't know whether to install them or sell them I have heard that they are extremely stiff, and will make my Bilsteins feel like a caddy. How can that be? These bilsteins are among the stiffest (and worst-riding) shocks I have ever driven. I don't want to go with a complete coil-over system as they are not really appropriate for a street car. They are not widely known/sold/ Anyone in Japan have any experience with the GAB Super-R's?

I have these with 550 fr./450 r. springs and love them. My car is currently a street only car and I have no complaints. The valving and ride is much better than the Tokico Illuminas I had on previously. I'll be more than happy to buy them from you for as a spare set.

i have had them on my car with 550/450? coil overs for like 2 years and the ride is about the same as a stock r1, or really stiff. the car does feel really good when you corner though

I switched over to Koni Yellows because of the stiffness. For cornering, the Super R's are awesome ... feels like the car is planted and it's just your body getting tossed around. But for general daily driving use, they can be a bit noisy (that is the ca-thunk you hear over each bump) and they are a bit on the stiff side. Even on the lowest setting ...

If you do install them, I recommend replacing your rear bushings as well. That seemed to quiet down the rider a lot after I did that.

I've got them and I don't think they make very good street shocks. They are too stiff over big bumps by the time you get them stiff enough to feel right in the corners (too much high-speed compression damping).

Coil-overs are great for any car. You can choose whatever spring rates you want and cheaply swap them in and out until you find the right combination. You can also change your ride height to avoid rubbing, change the CG height for handling, and get the look you want (fender gap). Adjustable-height coil-overs rule!
