Question Front/rear wheel size for best handling

What is considered the best wheel /tire size for improving FD handling, without suspension mods but with rolling of fenders?

235 50's rear and 225 50's front... will cause a lil understeer if you are into the mountain scene.. also you need some good tires to go with them.. azenis, kumho MX... etc..

245/45/16 is the max on stock rims: why go with a smaller width?

That's what i would do for stock FD wheels. Bang for buck. That sounds like the magic number to me.

My guess is 9.5x17" front and 10x17" rear wheels (contact CCW - http://ccwheel.com/) with 265/40 front and 285/40 rear tires. That's big, but it does fit as I know someone who used to run that setup on his FD.

17x9" wheels with 255/40 front and rear would be nice, too, since you can get one-piece forged wheels in that size (with the right offset ~+40mm) and will be able to rotate your tires.

Realistically, you probably will need some suspension mods to keep the tires out of the fenders. Stiffer springs, shocks, and sway bars will help to limit wheel travel so you can fit big rubber on the car with less chance of rubbing. You don't need any mods to make room (in the "static" sense) for the fitments I listed above, though -- they will all fit with stock springs, etc. if the wheel offsets are correct.
