front LCA install problem

I am trying to reinstall my front LCA's after installing new bushings, but the 2 ball joints where the crown nuts go keeps spinning around when i tighten the crown nuts lol.

How can i tighten my crown nuts?

The best way i know for this is to use an impact wrench! If it turn when using the impact wrench you can tap on the balljoint with a soft mallet at the same time.

Good luck!

Impact wrench????

If the ball joint is freely rotating, then it is probably broken. If it is broken you need a new LCA since the ball joint is not replaceable.

Don't screw around with bad ball joints. If they are bad and you re-install, they will eventually separate and cause you to lose control of your car.

You need to use and impact gun. The ball joint can rotate if you just try to tighten the nut by hand. The way it is designed is the stud is tapered under the threads so it seats into the knuckle and locks it. If you just try to tighten the nut the joing will spin. An impact gun tightens it so abruptly that it sucks the joing together before it can spin. Make sure you replace the cotter pin. It is also good practice to use a new castle nut.

FWIW, when they are new, they go right on without no impact wrench... I even torqued them without having to do anything.

That was my experience with my new upper A arms and low mileage lower arms.

I'll defer to RES though since he has more experience than I do.
