Finish on OE FD wheels
Hi,
I search and couldn't find any info. I had a set of OE FD refinished / powder coated flat black about 6 mos ago at a local powder coater. I didn't care for flat black wheels on my car, so I sold them. I have a 2nd set of FD wheels and the new owner / manger of the shop says they must be chemicaly stripped. He said that the OE FD wheels are powder coated and must be stripped to coat them. This adds to the cost. Last time I paid $200 now it's $300.
Does anyone know for sure if the FD wheels are painted OR powder coated from the factory.
Oh, I used Muriatic Acid (pool acid) to clean the back side of the wheels. Man that stuff works on bare alloy!
Thanks for your time & info.
