FD: redrilling hubs

So, I'm in europa and looking at the local (mainly German) Ebay site and similiars, there is an awfull amount of nice wheels being offered in second hand and near new condition.

Looking at my FD, the lug pattern is 5X114.3 which is as uncommon as a RHD FD in the US over here.

I'm not trying to be a cheap bastard , because the wheels over here go a good amount of money as well. Though I can spend the money on the item instead of paying high import taes on Rays, VOlks or otjer jap brands.

So is it possible to redrill the FD hubs and use bolts instead of nuts? Did somebody ever do this?

It wouldn't be that simple. There's not enough meat in the hub to drill it, tap it and hope the wheel stays put. Even so this would require drilling the brake rotors as well.

If trying to fit wheels with the wrong bolt circle I would instead make a hubcentric spacer with the desired bolt circle. Best of all it doesn't require modding the rotors and the hubs can be easily returned to stock by removing the spacer.

I considered this as well but the spacers would be quite wide because of the lenght of the OEM studs.

^ Certainly; but I think you'd have to live with it. I can't think of anything else that would make sense money wise.
