FD: did i screw up my abs sensors while installing my suspension?

My ABS light just came on.

Last night, I replaced the factory springs on my car with PFS comfort springs - also running Koni adjustables and got new upper mounts and spring pads all around while I was there.

At one point when I was trying to re-install the front driver side strut assembly, the ABS sensor cable was pulled pretty tight. When I finished and started the car up, the ABS light came on. I took it for a test drive and tested the brakes to determine whether or not the ABS was working. The fronts locked up (rain).

Since I was not able to remove the ABS sensors from the hub, I had left them in during the install. I read a couple of threads that these things just twisted off, but mine wouldn't budge. Yes, I did unbolt them first.

It seems like the sensors are on tight. Could I have screwed up the cable? Is it just wiring under that cable that I can check and maybe splice?

Thanks for the help.

Oh - my suspension feels a lot better now. Handles bumps much better and it is quieter and smoother over all.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for your question, but I just installed a set of ComfortSports too, along with some Tokico Illuminas. Supposedly these springs lower the care only a bit, but I definitely am now scraping over a speed bump that I never scraped before. Have you noticed anything similar?

No I have not really noticed anything like that. I am using Konis with my springs and new upper strut/shock mounts. I have my Koni's set at the middle spring perch. I'm running stock rims with 245/45/16 Kumho 712.

Before I installed the springs, I measure my ride height at 26-26.5" from the floor to the fender lip. This is with the Konis on the highest spring perch and stock springs. I had about 2" of space between the top of the tire and the fender lip.

Now with the PFS comfort springs and new mounts and the Konis at the middle setting, I am at 25-25.5". I would probably gain 1/4-1/2" if I had put the Konis on the higher spring perch. I spoke with rynberg a while back about his ride height and he is at 24.5-25" using HKS springs and Konis shocks set on the highest perch. HKS springs are supposed to only lower 3/4" or so.

Hope that helps. Ride height is a real pain in the *** some times which is why I really prefer a shock like Konis.

More than likely you did pull the wire out of the sensor. I did that on my passenger side front when I was installing my coilover setup. www.mazmart.com tends to have the sensor (wire plugs in on the engine side and feeds through to the hub). I forget the price but I think around $100 or so.

I had a guy install my springs and shocks five years ago. He broke my ABS sensor in the process. The light wouldn't go off and they would lock up. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed that the ABS sensor was broke. They fixed it under my extended warranty($50 deductible)

Thanks. I played around with the connections a bit and it didn't help. I just PM'ed Jason who removed his entire ABS system to get a price for this. Its actually not that badly priced at the dealer - $125, but its still $$ that I don't want to spend.

Now if I could only figure out how to get those buggers out of the damn hub...

You may not need the whole ABS system. Maybe a sensor or two... You might want to find out how to check them.

Yeah, I want to test them, but can't get the ******* out of the damn hub! Regardless, I'm pretty sure I need one or else the light wouldn't be on. Right?

You got PM.
