Your subframe could have been tweaked as well. I have seen similar damage to yours with the subframe getting hurt.

Yep, I would have a shop look everything over carefully for any damage.

A new arm is probably a little over $500 from Malloy. You would probably have to replace the bushings in a used arm if you went that route, which might not save you any money.

ok so once i take it to the shop, apart from the lower control arm for sure, what else is highly likely to be fucked up?

im taking the rim off today to look it over. it doesnt seem to have any other damage other than scrapes. now the bolts on the rim are another story. i would imagine those are stripped?

im trying to learn as much on suspension as i can so i dont get fucked over by a shop with all this.

thanks for all the help and advice so far guys.

the rx7store makes a launch kit...?

i also found aftermarket lower control arms from Nagisa Auto ( www.more-japan.com ) there $890 tho! i didnt think they would be THAT costly....

i think i opened a can of worms

*note to self...and others.... dont haul *** with bad tires*

That's impressive!

Certainly be careful to check the entire rear suspension and subframe. I wouldn't expect any damage to the wheel bearing or axle. Be certain to check the trailing arm and it's mount as well.

Been there... My roommate, whom I trusted, borrowed my fd and ran it into a curb. The damage was very similar to yours. I didn't take it to a shop because I don't trust any shop around here, so I meticulously inspected all of the suspension components myself. Other than obvious lower control arm damage and fubar'd rim, I ended up finding a tweaked trailing arm and a bent front swaybar end link (my roommate said the back end took the impact, but the whole car went up on the curb!). The local Mazda stealership wanted $700 for a new contol arm, so I just bought it used for $180. Everything else I bought brand new online. Luckily, these parts were very easy to remove and replace, and the car drives just as she did before. But my wallet ended up ~$900 lighter (most of that was my aftermarket rim).

If you buy a used lower control arm, you might want to ask about the condition of the pillowball bushings (clunking), unless you plan on replacing them anyway.
