Are you sure it's the springs and not the damper/struts?

Just got mines installed and love them. Thanks Rishie!

Can anyone get me good ones for cheap? |
Looks great. Ebay for dampers bro. I can't even touch their tokico prices.

Anybody running these on "snow belt" type roads and 17 inch rims? Wondering how these would compare to groundcontrol coilovers as far as daily drive mostly street driven setup.

push down on it?
it was actually softer when i first installed, but now since it settles you can feel the nice stiffness. :) heres how they look on 17's http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/586...66715zf7fh.jpg |

I say its very streetable, This is comming out of someone that lives in LA and daily drives his FC.
|
That looks real real nice. What size tires are you running front and rear?
Thanks, Rishie |
for the 17's im runnin 215/45 on the front and 255/45 on the rear.

Do you mean a 255/40/17? Cause a 255/45 is an awfully tall tire, not one i have seen to be very common either. What wheels are you running and how wide are they front and rear? Do you happen to know the offsets? I really like the overall stance of your vehicle. Looks great.
I typically run a 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear for the T2's. Then 235/40/17 front and 245/40/17 rear for autox NA GTUs, need mad turn in. Rishie |
ohh yes, sorry, just looked at my 255's and its 255/40.
Those wheels came off of an FD RZ. the fronts are 17x8, and the rears are 17x8.5. The offsets 50, So i had an 11mm spacer front and rear. |
I thought they looked familiar yet unique.
Since you're already done with the spacer deal this won't really help much but I have a special set of spacers I use to do FD to FC offset conversions. I would have done like a +20 front and rear. These come studded and hubcentric to your FC if you choose. Then I have these hubrings that will make the FD wheel of 67.1 centric to the FC of I believe 59.6. It's such a beauuuutiful marriage. I mean HUBCENTRIC completely. Takes a few steps to get there but it's done. Anyways, looks fabulous. Great job. |
I'm actually still interested in hubcentric spacers, since the ones i used for the 17's arent hubcentric. Just PM me the price for those. Thanks.

Just to clarify, these are RS*R Race springs, correct? Not the "down" springs?
Andrew |
That's correct. RACE ONLY.
|
Is everyone using the tokico blues with these? How stiff are they in dampening?
|
I was told they were about a setting "3" compared to the adjustable tokico illuminas(5 being the stiffest setting),if that comparison makes any sense to you.
|
Is the ride controlled well with this spring/shock combo though? IE no bouncing. Also the rear springs look like they have like 1 centimeter of travel before the spring binds up, is this so?
I'm seriously considering this setup for my car and just wanna know how it works out for handling and such. |
Well it is bouncy as all hell, but that is because the spring rates are so high. It handles like a dream, much less body roll, and it handles the s turns very well. I love to drive mountaing roads, and my setup of Tokico blues and RS*R springs works great.
|
What about the spring binding? it doesnt look like there is much travel left in the spring, i'd hate to have the spring bottom out at a less then ideal time,..
|
Seeing how the ride is bouncy with new Tokico Blues I'd say that they're not suifficient to damp a spring of that stiffness. You really need some stiffer adjustable shocks, like Koni Yellow, KYB AGX or Tokico Illumina.
Stiff springs don't necesarily mean you'll have a bouncy ride (all springs are bouncy). Stiff springs with weak shocks does mean you'll have a bouncy ride. You can run springs that are much stiffer than those and not have a bouncy ride, IF your shocks are stiff enough to handle them. Shocks are a big part of how a car handles, and good adjustable shocks that can handle the spring rate you want to run are crutial to having a good handling, smooth riding car. |
i have the same set up (rsr and blues) and i think it is stiff as hell... shit im even thinking that if i got new bushings the ride would be way tooo harsh for a street car
|
What about rear suspension travel? does the spring limit it because the coils are so compressed when installed, or is the pic just misleading?
