FC RSR Race Springs
 

Too harsh? You don't know what you are talking about.
I ordered a set of FC RSR Springs from autornd a while ago and have had it on for a week now.

The ride height is perfect, the front is perfect, and the rear is still higher than the front. Although it drops the rear more than the front, it still provides a perfect stance.

As for stiffness? It isnt even as stiff as my friends stock S2k, but it is definately a jump from the stock spring rates. It is very daily drive friendly. I love these springs... Oh, and a picture of what it looks like on my car...

Do you have any day time pics and stationary ones?

I've heard good things about them, but I don't know if I want to change to those from my Eibachs. The Eibachs have a good ride but I want to have a slightly lower stance.

The benefit of these RSR Race Springs over the Eibachs would be higher spring rates as well as linear springs both front and rear.

With what kind of shocks? F6/R4 (approximately) sounds like a pretty nice rate... not obscenely high but still a good boost over stock. I'd think you'd need some sort of race shocks to run them properly, though.

Have you checked the alignment yet? With a drop that big in the rear there should be some massive negetive camber that will chew up your rear tires. You should get it checked soon so that you can fix it before your rear tires wear out in half the time.

I used to like the specs on these springs, but they're too low for me and they're hot rolled, which is bad and means that they'll go soft and sag much more quickly than most other springs which are cold rolled.

Eibachs are good springs but unfortunately I have only seen the Pro-Kits available for FC's. But hey there's always ground controls.

The spring rates on the RSR are very nice, and stance looks better from all of the other pics on the net, good angles.

i really love it when people say they wont work when they have had no experience in it. from rear camber to "spring sag"

Oh, btw, I think the reason the rear is lowered less than the front is because it has a lower spring rate... that way when the car is on the ground it stays at an even drop. (just a thought...)

...still though, what shocks are you using?

I'll probably need to replace my shocks and springs, AND bushings as soon as I get my car running, since it bounces a bit when I push on it, and since the bushings are literally falling apart!

According to the info on AutoRnD the drop is 1.2" front and 2.0" rear, so the rear is lower and has a lower spring rate. The commonly accepted maximum reasonable drop without having camber issues is about 1" all around, with rapidly increasing negative camber in the rear beyond that. If you want to challenge this beleif, then by all means go get the alignment checked and post the printout of the numbers they give you (this should be checked no matter what as you were changins suspension parts and could have screwed the alignment around in the process). An alignment isn't expensive, just do it, you'll be wishing you did if you have messed it up and have to replace your tires in a month or less (I've heard of people wearing out new tires in a week or two with a bad alignment).

I say about spring sag from my knowledge of materials and processes from university and from reading one of Carroll Smith's books (tune to win I think) where he specifically said that all of the best springs are cold rolled and that hot rolled springs are done so for cost reasons and are nowhere near as good. He is a very respected man in the automotive racing world and his books are widely considered to be the racer's bibles. It is a fact of life that ALL springs will sag when ontinuously under load and will likely get softer in the process. The better springs will do it more slowly.

I'm not in the habit of posting when I have either no knowledge or experiance on a topic.

Now, on a street car these aren't as big an issue as on a race car and I wouldn't worry too much about hot vs. cold rolled, but the increased camber will cause tire wear.

Anyway, the car does look very good with those springs. It really does make the stance much more aggressive and sporty. It probably also handles a lot better than stock. In the end it really doesn't matter how I feel, it's your car and if you like it and it makes you happy then more power to you.

i have them and they are stiff like hell. but i also have tokicko blues. when i get new bushings is going to be incredibly stiff. i would recommend them if you just want stiffer than stock

they are perfect if you are not planning on tracking the car or heavily competing in the autox circuit

I just bought mine and there sitting on my floor next to my tokico blues.... Waiting for brake rotors, and there goin on. :) Can't wait.

Well buying springs and shocks instead of replacing bald tires is STUPID. Tires are the most important thing on the car, they are the only things connecting you to the road. BTW, having tires that are below the wear bars is ILLEGAL. You can get ticketed for it (not that they ever check), but more importantly, they can cause you to crash and die, not good.

Ya bald tires, bad. Especially in winter. hehe. Alan I can get you some cheap ass tires for your stockies bro.

I just put on my Tokico blues and my RSR Race Springs on today and wow. So much better all around.

i have the RSR springs on my 88TII with KYB shocks and notice that they squeak a llitle bit. does anone else have this problem?
