Enkei 17x9+40, what suspension mods?
Enkei 17x9+40, what suspension mods?
Hi, i'm looking to run this rim in the near future. At about $250 a rim it's a great value and they look awesome (if you haven't seen this rim, go to the video section and download the MCRvsFD video).
I'd like to run 17x9+40 but i'm pretty sure this will cause problems. What suspension set up can u use to make this work. I was thinking RS-R Racing Springs (FRONT:447/REAR:391 with a one inch drop) with the tokico's i have sitting around the garage. Does anyone think this will work?
If anyone has this rim setup please let me know how you got it to work. I know coil-overs will solve the trick but before i spend $1300+ on coilovers i'd like to know some alternatives. THANKS!!! Clayton T.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. You will probably be fine with rolled fenders, but that's a low offset for the typical lowering springs. You'll still need to drive carefully in some situations.
Are those wheels available in a higher offset? I'd go no less than +45 in a 17x9. Otherwise, go narrower in the front (17x8 or 17x8.5 +40), or forget the wheels altogether.
That SUCKS!!! Oh well
Thanks guys . . . it seems all the good, lightweight, cheap rims i want DON'T FIT!!!
Well my other options are 17x8.5+35, 17x8+48, 18x8+40 . . . . .
I know my best bet is the 17x8+48 but i want something that fills out the fenders better (width wise).
Thanks guys, great help as always

That's the rim i'd like. It's simple and i think it's lines will stand the test of time. Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know how much more expensive it is, but check out the Enkei RP03 Type RC -- 18x8.5 +42, 18x9.5 +45.
Also, the 5Zigen FN-01RC looks very similar to the RP03, costs a little less, weighs under 20 lbs, and is available in 17x9 +43, which gives you 3mm more clearance.

I LOVE the look of the rp03 rc's but i'm thinking since they're two piece design they're going to cost $500+ each wheel
17x8 is cool, i'll prolly end up going with those, i just figured if i was getting new rims i might as well try to go wider
Thank's for the suggestions guys.
