Do I need new tires?

I got these puppies http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ictoRacer+V700

I bought some old school rims that came with those, not too bad of usage. The car drives pretty smooth, hell smoother than the stock big sidewall tires of the FB.

The tires seem to be 30-40% worn in the front, 20-30% worn in the back (at the most in the back) theres still a lil bit of tread depth, but when new they don't have much at all.

I guess when they're near dead you see steel belting, which I don't see anything.

I just noticed though theres a deep gouge about as wide as a ball point pen's point going accross the tire, now as writing this the one thing that comes to mind is the soft rubber was indented by the freeway bridge things that are pretty rough I think where they meet it's raise... the tires get scratch marks in them they got very very soft rubber.

If it's dangerous to keep using the rear tires I guess I can put the stocker rims on the back till I can afford new tires

Those are r-compound tires. They are meant for autox or road courses. They will be soft and you'll probably kill them quicker with heat cycling from street driving than you will from just wear. They will wear down to basically a slick (as you can have them shaved when you buy them).

^yeah I enjoy them lol I don't have any plans to drive on them once it gets colder here/wetter (When we get fog rly rly bad it'll cause them to slip) I just don't really want the original rims on.

I think I was right what it was, I don't really see the line much anymore, these tires are smooth no lumps or anything, no belting showing so I guess they'll be fine for another 1k miles or alil less. I've only driven 800 on them the rears are def wearing out fast lol
