Do 17 tires mean bone jarring ride quality?
Do 17 tires mean lower ride quality? The Rx ride is already pretty stiff, was wondering from you guys that have been there, if the 17's make it still stiffer? Or worse yet, bone jarring?
I've got to replace the 15" tires on my '91 convertible. (Still on the original Potenza RE71's.) I've noticed there's not much available in high performance 15" tires available anymore. Theres lots of options and benefits with 16's and 17's, like looks and handling, but has anyone noticed any downside to the ride quality with 16 or especially 17 inch tires?
The "corners on rails" feeling is what makes the car fun to drive for me, but I don't want to blow the bottom out of my coffee cup the first time I hit a chuck hole. Really don't want to change suspension either, just to get great tires. Love the benefits with 16s or 17s, but wondering about the downside.

Do you have adjustable struts, like Tokiko Illuminas? This is the best way to make your ride quality and performance way better than stock. The rate of the springs has a lot to do with it also.
I've run ground controls, racing beat's linears, and intrax. I liked the GC and RB the best, the handled the best, although the intrax is a softer ride and provides less suspension travel.
I have a minimum of 17's on all four of my FC's and love the way it rides. Depending on the stiffness of the tire's sidewall, this will change the stiffness as well.
Do the upgrade, you won't be sorry. If you need assistance finding a good 17,8 that's cheap let me know. Don't get 7's or 7.5's as a width, as this is rice rocket size. Wider is better and we can do it up to 9.5's, baby. PM me for more info.

Your ride comfort will suffer for a coule of reasons. You will be running a lower profile tire and so the sidewall can't absorb the impact of bumps as well and if you increase your unsprung weight (it will cost $$$ to find 17" as light as your 15") the ride comfort will suffer as well. Still, the increase in turn in and less distortion under hard cornering may be worth it. Drive an RX-7 w/ 17" before you decide.

I just put a set of 18" wheels and tires on my fc and the ride quality really didn't change. I have 225/40/18 on.
