decreased spring rate and now car too low

I have Advanced Design coil-overs and changed the spring rates from 625 (F) & 450 (R), to 450 (F) and 350 (R).

Unfortunately, now the front is too low for my driving habits, and I've run out of adjustment on the coilovers.

It's running at 24.5-inches from the bottom of the front fender, and I like to run 25 to 25.5-inches instead.

I got the same free length (7-inches) as before, and I think need to go to 8-inches free length.

Am I addressing this correctly ?

Thanks,
:-) neil

Ideally you should be closer to 26". You might have to go with a taller spring. Since that coilover setup uses Eibach ERS springs, you should be able to get almost any spring size/stiffness you want. I ran a 550/450 combo and had plenty of adjustment left.

Are you sure it is a 7" spring? That is very odd. How much usage on the shocks? How much usage on the spring?

I've tested 450 and 500 # springs in 7" length up front w/o the issues that you are having on my Konis w/ GC coilover kit.

Yep, 7-inch, springs, and the shocks are newly rebuilt by Advance Design.

Darn, now I have to get another set for the fronts . . .

If the springs can take the deflection, just get 1" aluminum spacers to compress the springs an additional inch. I've seen these commonly used on racecars. That will raise the car an inch, just like longer springs, and will probably be less expensive.

I ran into the same problem with my AD's when I went from 550 to 450 spring rate in the front. I first tried to use tender springs but that only gave me about 1/2 in. when compressed so I ended up buying some longer springs.

M2 supplied them with the same length springs that came with the Ground Control coilover kit, which work fine for high springs rates but don't mix with with big wheels and softer springs.

I went to 8-inch free-length springs up-front and all is good.
