A couple suspension questions ... help!
What do I need to do to make the Tokico Illuminas fit in my Mazdacomp camber plates? The piston on the shocks is smaller. Does anybody know the sizes off hand, of am I going to have to haul a shock and a plate to the machine shop and have something made?
What's the cheapest I can get some threaded collars and threaded lower spring perch for? Rishie said like $199 from Ground Control, which is ridiculous. I just need the collar and the lower perch. My set screws are rusted in. Drilling them out and re-threading is turing out to be a nightmare. Looks like Truechoice has some, but what size do I need? Would I need 50mm or 55mm collars? Anybody? I'll just order a generic collar and cut it to whatever size I need.

the shock piston is smaller?? it should be the other way around. the camber plate hole should be smaller. at least the ground control plate holes are smaller. tokicos and KYB's have bigger pistons then the stock shocks and konis. you need to machine them down a bit. ground control does this for you if you buy the shocks from them. but a good machine shop should be able to do it. but I'm not 100% sure what it is that needs to be done. I'm sure the mazda comp ones are the same as the GC ones.

How far down the Tokico piston shaft should I have it machined? I assume just enough for all the threads to stick out the top of the camber plate?
The suspension on this car has been as big a pain in the *** as anything ...

KYB
Ryan,
I had the same issue with the KYB's in my car. I actually "machined" the shock myself. I had a fixture made to hold the shock, and used the drill press and a flat file. It's the way to go.

I'm gonna hack on the piston shafts with a file tomorrow. I have a feeling I'm going to be file-ing for hours though! If it works, I can re-mount the shocks, cut out the metal for the camber plates and mount everything back up.
You'll like the pics. I polished or painted EVERYTHING that I took off. A-arms are polished, I dropped and painted the subframe, painted every single nut and bolt. Damn it looks sweet. Gonna be a shame driving it now. Got my RB swaybar mounted up too. I was thinking about painting my illuminas a different color - I just don't like white. Maybe a dark gunmetal silver color.
