Coolrotors ?

found a link to these in another thread but searches return ZERO information about them. that makes me nervous but the looks and price are right for the whole kit!

http://turboimport.com/catalog/rx7.htm

any owners? comments? experiences?

my FD is probably 90% street (but i dont want to rule out autocross or track if the opportunity should arise) so i dont think i need to go ***** to the wall like racingbrake or similar.

thank you.

as you can see i got no responses so im updating my own thread to better help those who search in the future.

i ordered the complete kit with the HPS upgraded pads. the lines, pads, and rotors all came at different times. the rotors came last about 2 weeks after ordering but all parts did arrive.

the front rotors are OE Brembo slotted/dimpled replacements and the rears are "other high quality OE slotted/dimpled replacements." all 4 rotors looked great and i had no fitment problems. the lines and pads also fit great with no issues.

the weather had warmed a bit this past week and i was itching to do something with my car so i installed everything and grabbed a few pics. i bled the brakes and bedded the pads. this is a noticeable upgrade over the stock setup, NOT night and day but i did feel a difference. i think most of what i felt was the pads plus during my brake job i discovered that the lower rear caliber bolt on the drivers side had seized.

so far im very pleased with this kit and would recommend it to anyone looking to refresh their stock worn setup while getting a slight upgrade to performance/looks.

What you're feeling is the better pads, maybe the new lines and the effects of having a properly bled system. Rotors won't make the car stop any better or feel any better.

There's really no better deal than parts store OE equivalent rotors. For example on my FC I can get a complete set for about $100. Maybe if I went for Brembos or something they'd last a little longer, but they'd cost maybe twice as much, so value for money, the cheap ones beat all.

Amen to that. Cross-drilling, dimples, slots.. They are almost a downgrade. Modern pads don't need these things. I talked to an old porsche racer about cross-drilling and he said the only time he noticed a difference was in the rain. Other then that, the rotors crack and don't last as long.

But, their is something to high quality materials in rotors. Those cheep chinese made ones dont seem to last nearly as long as the brembo rotors I run. Just get the cheap brembo blanks from tirerack.

For pretty much all applications except extreme track use, blank rotors are the way to go. the only thing slotted rotors are good for is eating up pads. if you want to view this from a positive standpoint, they will keep the pads from glazing under hard use, but the fact that you'll be replacing the pads much sooner even when not under hard use does not outweigh thenegative. I doubt those dimples would be of any use at all.

I'd have about the opposite reccomendation. I'd say that for street, run whatever makes you happy, but leave the fancy rotors there, at the track run nothing but plain rotors.

I go to the track whenever I can and I crew on race weekends at least once a year. Going around the pits at the races, almost everyone runs plain rotors, probably 95% or more. Same at the track weekends. With modern race pads you don't have to worry about them glazing or anything like that. I've used cheap generic rotors lots of times, and the thing is, they're probably made at the same factory as the OEM ones are. I've NEVER seen or heard of one having a quality issue, and many, many people run them exclusively and reccomend them. For Miatas NAPA rotors are the de-facto choice, as you can get all 4 for under $100. Last time I bought rotors I think it was under $100 for all 4. Brembos from TireRack are $154, which is a pretty good deal, but that's not including shipping, and I highly doubt they last 50% longer than the $100 rotors.

Fact is there's no better value for money than the cheap rotors, and I don't know of anyone having problems because of them. There's nothing wrong with running the more expensive ones, but it's not likely to get you any further before they need changing.
