Conquest Tsi rims on my FC problem
Conquest Tsi rims on my FC problem
Okay guys,
I recently performed the five lug conversion and was looking for some rims to fit. I found some good rims off of a late model Conquest. I'm using the 7"x16" w/18 offset up front and 8"x16" w/18 offset in back. I'm running 225 50s all around. The tire clearance is good and the rims look pimp, but the front rims don't clear the calipers. I was wondering if anyone has succesfully done this wheel installation, and what kind/size spacers did they use. Will this require me to replace my bolts?
I have looked at the Mr. Gasket spacers on Summit's site and the largest ones they have are 7/16ths. They're cheap at 12.95/pr.
If I do have to replace the studs, how difficult is it? Can I do it at home w/typical tools?
Thanks,
Rob

Replacing studs is a bitch, i have done it on one of my 1st gens before..
But i did it with a pair of vice grips, and a hammer in a parking lot at a mall
Wheel spacers is generally a bad idea though. Will the back wheels fit on the front? Maybe you could just pick up another set of the rear wheels?
Just my $0.02 worth..

Well for one. These wheels will not work no matter what. The "Starquest" uses an extremely low offset.
You'll need something in the +35 range for those widths. As for spacers, those will have the opposite effect that you desire. Spacers only push the wheels out more.
It's a lost cause. Don't even waste your time unless you go widebody or something.
