coilover noise question

I recently put a set of stance coilovers on my fc vert as preparation for a future wheel install and to replace the old failing original parts it had on it. Since the new suspension uses solid pillow ball mounts up top there is an obvious change in the amount of noise that is transferred to the interior of the car. My question is, would it be a bad idea to cut a piece of hard mounting rubber the shape of the top mount to sandwich between the suspension and the car. I am hoping I can just take a little bite out of the road noise. verts have a hollow area where the rear suspension mounts and it makes the sound worse than usual. Oh and yes I have searched

I got some make your own gasket stuff and put it on the top hats. It is quieter. There is a reason BMW does it on all their cars. I am still searching for more sound suppression. I will next see if the ksport rear rubber top mounts can be adapted to the stance I have. Oh almost forgot to say I installed some ksport nylon spring isolators and that helped a bit too.

When we have a "Squeak and Rattle" problem... Rubber is a go to. If you can get enough clearance to actually mount the suspension it shouldn't be a problem. metal on metal is going to make way too much noise. I replaced my rear struts on my fc with some cheap part store struts, just to hold me over till coilovers. the bottom mounting plate was just metal with no rubber... it made a lot of noise. my fix was to disassemble the strut and spray rubberized undercoating on it, let dry then reassemble.. made a big reduction in noise in the back. so if you cus the rubber a quarter inch or so i don't see how it could hurt. just torque the nuts down and check the to make sure the rubber hasn't "softened" up on you.

I got a can of the rubber under coat but I have been too lazy to apply it.

haha understandable.. if you do spray it though, spray some on the bottome of the car where the strut bolts in too if you don't mind it being on your car. rubber on rubber and it wont wear out as fast then lol

My BMW and Porsche had small gaskets, nothing thick, maybe 1-2mm thick between the shock and body of the car.

the FD and Rx8 have little gaskets between the strut top and body, i think its mostly for squeaks.
