coilover collar keeps moving on its own?
so, im gettin a little fed up on adjusting my coilover almost every month. somehow even with the lock ring on the bottom collar tightly on, it automatically moves itself loose, and lowers the car. also same thing as the top collars lowering the springs by itself. my question is, is there a way to stop this from doing it? maybe treadlock? by the way, its an zeal function b6 for the fc. here are pics of how they look.
its only the front coilovers, the rears are fine, since the bottom collar dosnt adjust for the rears.

im gonna say the top hat is not free to pivot on the pillowball. so when you turn, the top of the spring doesnt, and forces the collar below it loose.
try having a friend turn the wheel back and forth and see if the spring turns, or at least spin the top and see if it feels free

yea, your the one that refered me to kent, and they are really helpful. i got one of my front coilover rebuilt from them a few months ago. and im pretty sure, if it needed a replacement, they would of replaced it, but the rebuilt one also loosens itself.
but thanks for the input guys, i'll have a look at it with a friend steering it

My JIC FLT-A2s used to loosen the collar up at the strut to hub carrier mount (lowest collar) on just one side.
I tried locktite and it held for a little while.
When I switched to FLT-TARs I got an extra set of collars so I could jam nut them together like the spring's collars and no problems now.
--------------
I also noticed though that the FLT-TARs have chromed shims under the springs to fight coil bind- which may help. It is possible the FLT-A2 spring' sharp end was digging into the collar and trying to rotate the threaded insert out of the lower mount on spring compression on that one side.

Crazy, this is one of those issues I've thought potential but never though it actually happened. Keep us updated on the status. If it were me personally I'd say locktite + tighten with flathead/hammer? Interesting, keep us updated, I'm curious!
