Coil-overs killed my stock car jack?
Coil-overs killed my stock car jack?
I attempted to jack my '87 TII up for the 1st time since I put JIC coil-overs on it w/ the stock jack. I got that corner a couple of inches off the ground and the stock 2nd gen jack stripped out
I stepped back from the car and I see that only one tire is on the ground because of the stiff short stroke suspension. Ah, I think the stock jack was overloaded.
Has anyone else experienced this? What jack do you guys carry in your car? Thanks, Ian.

where did you have the jack at? It's kinna hard to imagine you getting it into a perfect position to balence the car on one wheel. I've jacked both front wheels, both rear, both pass/driver wheels with the stock jack. Never had any problems. You could, now, get a steel jack from an S5, or go get a small 1 ton jack from autozone or something that will fit great in any one of the various holes in the car.
Stock recommended front corner jacking point! Yes, I was very surprised to see 1 wheel on the ground.
I think I will rebuild the stock jack w/ steel threaded portion and "nut" at inside pivot.
I was using the jack in the garage since the car was too low to fit my floor jack under a correct jacking point.
I will check out S5 jack, didn't know they were different.
Thank you, Ian.
Maybe I will get some "tender springs" so I can have some droop to the suspension w/ out having spring "slack".
