Chrome chipped off of wheel. Should I get it fixed?
A guy at the tire shop chipped a piece of chrome off of my stock (chromed) FD wheels. It is about a 1/2" square section at the lip of the rim. The tire shop has offered to have the rim stripped and re-chromed. I am wondering if anyone knows if this process can weaken the wheel?
Thanks in advance for any useful knowledge on this subject.

Well, I took the wheel in to the tire shop. They will ship it off for the work to be done. The chroming place will dip it in a solution that will disolve the copper coating under the chrome. Then they re-apply a new coat of copper, and then chrome it. I am told that the copper is required to get the chrome to stick. The tire place said it would take about a week, and that they would pay the $100 to have the work done.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

The shops that repair bent wheels typically do re-chroming as well.
