car understeers ALOT after weight redux...help

so heres what i have:

1988 SE 5speed, NA (base)

heres whats done to it:

K&N intake
gutted precat 1
60mm race pipe
jspec single
TB mod
Accel superstock 8mm
NGK platinum

heres what ive taken out of it:

PS pump
PS lines
PS/AC bracket
AC compressor
AC condensor
AC dryer
AC lines
Pulley fan
fan shroud
subzero assist
stock exhaust
stock air box and duct
spare tire, jack, tools

the car weighs 2700 w/ the driver...so about 2500 w/o the driver, and the car sits REALLy high now, about 2" higher in the front. and the problem is that i cant take corners fast at all anymore. i feel like i have to SLOW down for turns now...

what can i do to get more traction up front, and return the car's tendency to oversteer?

thanks
chris

I did the same thing on my 1st gen RX-7 and got it down to 2200lbs or less. I am getting new springs and shocks to lower the car, because after the weight reduction (i even removed the sound deadening material) my rear end sits up an extra inch. I'm not an expert, but if your suspension is high now your caster angles could be off i would think, and your roll centers could be off. Just some thoughts. I'll let the experts tell you how to fix it, but I am guessing you are going to need new springs to lower the car level, and might want to balance your sway bars depending on how much weight was removed from the front verses the rear. In my car I relocated the battery (38lbs) from the front to the back, and it made a HUGE differance.

What suspension do you have right now?

You'll need adjustable struts and possibly changing the spring rates as well. Give me this info and I'll interpolate what's needed to attain the effect you're looking for.

thanks, rishie

What size tires are you using also? Rims as well.

Thats odd that just removing that weight is causing understeer. I'm guessing the reason is that you removed a LOT of weight from your front end. That weight was causing more load on your front end, especially under braking. Now that there is less load being transferred to the front, it is getting less grip and therefore causing understeer.
Also, believe it or not, a STOCK FC actually has a slight tendecy towards understeer. Unless you are trail-braking, letting off throttle in mid-corner, or inducing oversteer with throttle your car shouldn't have a tendecy to oversteer. But your car is an 88 so who knows what the condition of your stock suspension parts are.

fo sheezy

tires: 195 up front
215 in the back

wheels: stock phone dial 14" and probably 6" wide

all stock suspension

and Most of the weight removal did come from the front.

so, i can get some AGX's, but the springs, im not sure which ones to get. cuz for the most part, the lowering springs allow the drop by INcreasing the spring rate, usually linear, except Eibach's prokit. so i need to drop it 3" now, or osmething like that. cuz if i only drop it 1.5" or 2" ill be BACK down to the original ride height, so i need to go lower than that.

does this mean ill need some custom springs or something???

custom=$$$

doh
