Caliper piston won't reset.

I'm in the middle of replacing my axles, and I have run into a small problem. I can't get the piston on the rear caliper to reset. In other words, the piston extended as if brake pressure were applied. Since it won't reset, I can't get it back on the rotor.

So, what do I need to do to get the damn thing to reset?

Currently, it is disconnected from the car, so it has no break pressure...which I thought would allow me to reset the piston with ease. No such luck.

Thanks for any help

Rear brake pistons actually screw in. Turn it clockwise while pushing on it and it should seat again.

make sure the rubber boot around the piston doesnt crimp as you are turning it.
crimp = rip = busted boot = rebuild or new caliper

to turn it, you can get a brake socket cube or use needle nose pliers.
