busted ball joint

well i was driving my car around last night and i hit a pothole on the highway going like 80-90 mph. Well i kept going and i ended up taking an off ramp near my house to get gas. well i get gas and then i start the car up move lke 2 ft and bam the whole right front of the car seems to fall down. i eventually got the car home and as i looked under the car the ball joint was completely off and resting on the rim of my car. The rim is pretty damaged. I just wondering how much this is gonna cost me cause it definetely seems like a lot of damage. Do you think insurance would cover this? I think since i need a new ball joint im also gonna need new a arms

You need to replace the whole lower control arm to get a new ball joint. They cost $350-500 depending on where you get them from. Without an account at Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, mazdaformance.com or a similar source will probably be your best deal. I don't know what else you migtht need, but you might need a new wheel, tie rod, etc. if they were damaged.

Could it be that the nut came off the ball joint? If that is the case, you might not need a new lover arm. You'd just need a new castle nut, cotter pin, and whatever else was damaged.

At least it didn't steer you into the guard rail or something.

Just out of curiosity, how much were the replacement Lower control arms? Was it sold in pairs?

Thanks!

PS I need your for measurements - I am having tubiular chromaly sets made w/ repleaceable bushings. Hope to make it for less than the stock ones, but better performance.
