Question Brembo Question

Hey guys, Just thought I'd post a question I was curious about here, as many of you seem to be very knowledgeable in all aspects of braking, not just rx-7 specific.

Anyway, skipping the back story, why do some brembo's (or large 4-6 piston caplipers) have an external tube on the bottom of the caliper connecting both sides, and others do not?

For example, My project Mu's have the tube, My evo's brembo's have the tube, the porsches I was looking at, at cars and coffee today, have the tube, but WRX/STI's, 350/370z's and hyundai Genesis coupes with brembo's do not.

Any particular reason? My buddy has got a set of STI calipers, and it looks like where the tube would normally go is just capped off.

Just got me wondering.

Thanks for any insight.

Some big brake calipers don't have internal passages connecting the outer bores/chambers to the inside, so the outside pistons are fed via external tube. StopTech ST40s on my FD are like this.

Yea I get that, but was wondering if there was some certain reason which makes one way superior to the other. Especially since Brembo manufactures the calipers for the evo/sti/350z's etc. Just thought that if one way was better (external vs interal) brembo would adopt that for all models.

I suppose that the Evo Brembo's and the STi Brembos could be vastly different, but they sure do look the same.
