Brembo Crossdrilled VS. Brembo Slotted rotors for FD
So I was browsing the RX-7store and came up on these replacement rotors for the FD. Just have a few quick questions:
1. Are these Brembo rotors bigger than stock FD rotors?
2. Difference between the two type of rotors?
I heard that the crossdrilled rotors tend to warp after hard agressive driving? Although they look nice and all, but IMO the slotted rotors look just as good.
Any comments?
TIA.
-Dan
BTW, I'm talking about the fronts of course.

my brake pads are the rx7.com brake pads. Stock lines.

be careful with the cross drilled rotors even though they are brembos. the rotors were drilled after they had been hardened and could cause major cracking. i have seen it on a few hondas. if you go to brembo's website they have a cool video of a rotor being drilled while it is still glowing.

if you look at the ones I have that are drilled and slotted, the slots do not extend to the end of the rotor and the holes are not drilled through.
So they are more effective than stock, but not *** fragile as the ones that have the holes all the way through.

1) the new rotors weigh alot more than stock.
2) My stock front rotors had warped for the 2nd time
3) I got new brake pads at same time.
So my old brake pads had 80K miles on them. They were about 1/2 way worn out. That combined with the fact that my front rotors were warped its hard to compare. I do remember what my car felt like with the stock brakes/rotors prior to my rotor bieng warped and its night and day.
Rotors probably weigh 5-7 lbs more than stock. Also, my rotors were shaved down a bit so that may be part of the reason. I think mazda went nuts with lightweight rotors cause I was like...damn when I felt the difference.

How and why the hell did your rotors warp so much? I know you do a lot of drag, but that can't be the main cause right? If anything I should be watching my rotors since I do ocassional mountain runs....... Oh well......
BTW, I'm starting to not like my stock brake setup, it doesn't stop fast enough nor grab good enough ...... lol

I bought my car with the front rotors warped (133,000 miles), I had them resurfaced and at about 150K miles they warped again. they could not be resurfaced.
Has nothing to do with drag racing. I think it has to do with the light weight of the OEM rotors.
