Brake peddle hit the floor....

I was driving the other day and had my 85 Rx7 in idle while stopping in a store. Started heading out of the lot and my brakes hit the floor with no stopping. I skidded to a curb and then my brakes were able to pump up for use. I have felt the brakes kind of spongy since then, but have grounded my car till I figure out what is wrong.

I have been told by friends and co-workers that the following is needed:

1) Simply air in the lines and need to be bled.
2) Full brake line replacement needed
3) Brake pads need replacement.

Any suggestions before I hit the store?

Thanks

Mike

it's not the pads... probably air in the lines. but that means it's leaking somewhere. check your fluid and see if it went down at all. and try and check for leaks. have someone pump the pedal while you search.

The small tank was down about a cm from full and the large tank was full, and I checked that every day for a few days, it stays the same.

As for the clutch, it seems normal.

Thanks for the responces!

yeah it sounds like sumthing in the hydrolic system, watch your break flud and see if you have a leak. I personally would have it looked at right away, sound like you are in a moving death trap.

Thank you for your concern, I have not driven it since the problem though.

I will be bleeding the brakes tomorrow and if the problem arises again I will check the cylinder.

Thanks again!
