brake pad help

Hi Guys,

I currently have the EBC GREEN STUFF installed and I've been using them for just under 2 years.

The question to you is alternatives.

My driving style/use is hard road with occasional track events. My FD is not used as my daily runner, therefore when she rolls out at weekends, I drive it to the max, rude not to hey? (where permissible).

So, what pads would you recommend? I've been looking up various other discussions and I have the following set-up to propose and I would like to view your comments.

1. HP+ ALL-ROUND

2. HAWK HT10'S FRONT HP+ REAR

3. HAWK BLUE ALL-ROUND

4. EBC RED STUFF

5. ANY MINTEX MODEL/SPECS? OTHER MAKES?

I'm sorry if I have not listed your preferred choice therefore please feel free to add your own based on your personal experience...

Thanks in advance...

Jus

Has anyone used Mintex M1155 compound or Ferodo DS2500 ?

They seem to be the ones that where developed for Hard Road and Track use but no one seems to use them?

I am using Mintex C-Tech (the 1155 track/street compound) on my Contour SVT. The pads are very good but want to be warmed up to work at their best. Every once in awhile they'll catch me off guard when they're cold or it's raining a lot, and there's a notably longer stopping distance when cold and wet. I would not get these again for purely street use. They're also quite dirty as pads go.

I'd probably go Hawk HP+ for just street and light track. Absolutely not Hawk Blues for street use unless you like replacing rotors, scraping goo off your rims, and sounding like you have school bus brakes.

I'm using KFP Gold on my FD and they work quite a lot like the Mintex, except they are carbon-kevlar; no ferrous content. They work great for me on the track and decent on the street. Much easier on rotors than Hawk or Mintex, which are both ferro-carbon pads.

Thanks mate! Where could I obtain these KFP Gold pads from? How Much? Do they come under a different product name in the UK?

Thanks

I don't know if KFPs are sold in the UK. They used to be known here as Cool Carbon.

I get them mail-order from Florida, the phone # is 330-453-9757, part #s for FD are KFP585 and KFP482 for front/rear.
