best wheels from experience?
im looking into buying some brand new wheels, and i need to know from people with experience on a few different types, what are the most versatile rims to use as a daily driver for street and some drifting, tire types wouldnt be a bad thing either, and maybe some pics if you have them, im looking for either black or bronze wheels.

I hope the flame ****'s don't descend on you for this post. Probably would get a better response if it were put in the Forum that deals with Suspensions, tires and wheels. This question has been asked and answered ad nauseum in the Suspension forum. Read those posts and you will find that there are as many opinions as there are RX-7 owners....and you know what opinions are like!

good thing it wasn't a voting thread^^^^
How much are you willing to spend? Lightweight racing rims are not cheap and cheap rims aren't lightweight.
Your best bet is to stick with 16's. Anything bigger will cause you to use low profile tires and they are not fun on bad roads(you could damage the rims).
check out the suspension forum and don't make stupid threads. READ (formerly known as RESEARCHING) BEFORE POSTING.

well money isnt TOO big of an issue, im looking to spend maybe 2g's on wheels and tires. i have some TII rims right now.
and the whole reading in the suspension forum. i tried that, most of its FD's and if u want FC wheels besides the fitment sticky, there is really nothing with personal experience with wheels that would really interest me. so i decided to start one in a forum with people that drive the kinda car i drive... not too stupid if you ask me. and as far as noob... look how long ive been on this forum, i just choose not to make many posts.
so flame me or help me out
oh and low pro, wont really be an issue, im moving to AZ in a month, way nicer roads than here in michigan

A $2k budget will buy 16x8 RPF1s from Rishie and leave plenty of money for GREAT tires.

At first I was going to suggest TE37s. Amazingly light and unbeatable quality.
But then I saw the budget, and I immediately thought: Enkei RP-F1s 17x9, 17x10.
But then I see that you have a gxl. Ugh. N/A a hundred and change rwhp... I would really concentrate on making your car perform well in other areas first, if you haven't already. Good coilovers, a TII drivetrain, and a bucket seat with a lot of seat time on the track will be exponentially more helpful.

You want to go to at lease 8.5 X 17 front and 9.5X17 rear.
This gives a great range of tires.
I have 9X17 Enkie Racing RP01s (17 lbs each) and am running 245/40-17 front and 275/40-17 rears. Yokohama AVS ES100 are one of the best tires for the price, and are better than some more expensive tires.!

God I hate those things. Seriously the worst tires, hands down, that I have ever used. One time I burned up some Champiros for fun. Those were better than ES100s!!!!After that I just greased up the rims with some butter and that had ore grip than an ES100, and it didn't blow apart and de-tread like them either!

Drifting is different than real driving where you want you tire to stick instead of burning them up.

strike up the paean
they are great for about 2-3000 miles.
then they become incredibly noisy, they tramline like all hell, and they deform way too much under any kind of serious driving. oh, and they develop poor wet traction.
people have compared the noise to a "wailing banshee" or driving on gravel.
the tire itself has been called (rather hillariously) a "death donut"

And then it blew apart on him while hotlapping. They cannot handle heat. They are for street, AT BEST, imho. And like Rishie said, they have so much noise and honestly after a short period of time degrade to total piles of ****.
Trust me, I have no issues properly setting up and/or driving a car.

well i do have a gxl, but its got power... its streetported and turbo, so i am focused on performance, so far im leaning towards the gram lights or the Enkei RP-F1s. but since im going to be tearing the tires up i might just buy the cheap *** kuhmo ecstas, 74 a piece

and in my opinion i have found this the best, run two very good quality tires in the front, and some middle of the road tires in the rear. has worked on many cars that i know of, and i love the set up on my car.
