Best Tires For Auto X ASP

I started auto x in my RX7 this year. The last 2 years I have been running my Hotchkis shod Celica GTS. My RX7 is so much more fun. I am currently running with Hankook RS2's (-2 degrees of camber) which, for street tires, did surprisingly well against Corvette's Elise's, and M3's on Hoosiers and V710's only being 1-2 seconds behind on 40-60 second courses.

I ran street tires so I could get used to Suspension setup and learn to rotate the car. I was wondering if the Veteran auto xers in the forum could help me out with picking tires considering: 1. Treadwear- a full season and a track day or two 2. Grip 3. Heat dissapation

My choices were V710- Excellent grip, lacks heat disapation, low treadwear
V700 Ecsta- OK grip, but good heat disappation, avg treadwear
V700 Victo- Good grip, good heat disappation, long treadwear but loses traction later in season
Hoosier AS04- Excellent grip, ok heat disappation, very low treadwear
Nitto NT-01- Don't know grip, good heat disappation, Good treadwear

Please give opinions

i think you answered your question by stating that the V700 Victos have good grip, good heat disappation and good treadwear. Most tires lose traction as they age so that shouldnt factor in your desicion. I dont have any experience with any of these tires, being that I am pretty much a drag racer. Good luck anyways.

Well, if you want to run track days and autocross I'd have 2 sets of tires, but since that doesn't appear to be an option I'd go for the old V700 Victoracers. You can also treat them with Hot Lap and not have them go away toward the end of the year. I ran 225/50R15 Victoracers on a 3200 lb car without shaving and had no chunking or blistering problems. The tire isn't as fast as the other's, but for the money and durability they are hard to beat.
