There is a lot of retardation in this thread.


FCs are very capable cars. I love my FC. They are not the easiest, but they are very rewarding. If you are hellbent of learning from day 1 in an FC, start off by learning weight transfer with stock suspension and an LSD. Then soon after start advancing by getting a $1000~ set of coilovers (will last you a couple of years). Then once you have that, stir in a seat, power upgrades, tires, wheels, cosmetics like paint and aerokits and by the time you know it, you're spending your whole paycheck on your car, eating Top Ramen, and sucking dick in alley ways to afford a set of tires to help you get to your next event.

start out learning how to "spin the car".. yanking the ebrake while your left foot is on the clutch and your off the gas while jerkign teh steering wheel in either direction you like.. try doing a 180... Go from there. thats a start on how to break rear traction.

Once you get that idea.. do it again but let go of the steering wheel and catch it when it counters out and smash on the gas.. try to see if you can keep the car sliding..

Learn how to break traction first then go from there with car adjustments..

Then do donuts.

With a good LSD and clutch, you can learn how to clutch kick, which is also another effective way to break traction.

A LSD is a must! but you can learn with just about anything.. train your hand/foot cordination..

i havent tried drifting my fc.. it was built by the previous owner for drift.. I dont have the time or funds to do it right now.

ive done 1 drift event so far, a few years ago in my s13.. all stock except used coilovers.. and an open diff.. was a big learning experience.. its possible to drift with a open diff.

Even if you dont have much to work with.. do an event you will learn alot.

drifting w/o direct weight transfer and drifting w/ direct weight transfer; learn in that order. clutch kick, e-brake a lil power drifting then get into the feint n throttle off n then you incorporate them together like the pro's and hey look at u now you lay it down like a g. id say its best to learn on a stock car cuz then you can really get a feel for it and predict whats going to happen which is what everyone needs to know when there drifting. all u need is a lotta tires, time and a safe place to do it and u will be able to drift a stock 7 like no ones buisness

Mazdatrix super steering angle kit
Exhaust and filter, maybe some more tuning if you can afford it.

Now that's all you need, and believe me, that is a winning recipe... Much quicker transitions, much higher corner speed, and a fantastically responsive engine with only simple mods needed for more output... Compared with an S-body.

Stop, before you put anymore work into getting more angle. Assuming you have the stock Mazda Power Steering rack, you are wasting your time.

The stock PS rack cannot handle much more than the Mazdatrix spacer. How do I know? My good friend was on the same quest as you, but using a lazier Mazdatrix spacer + slip on spacer method. Same effect, but different method. After 3 different blown racks he realized that the added slip on spacer was killing the rack. Each rack would last 1/2 an event before crapping out. He took the slip on spacer off and retained the Mazdatrix one and his PS rack has been fine ever since (lasted ~10 events so far).
