Azenis RT or Toyo T1R?

My fronts are worn bald on the inside. I'm not shure if it was from my Widefoot sway bar mounts or installing new boots without an alignment, maybe both?

Anyhow, I need new fronts and can get either pair for about the same price $300/pair isntalled (mounted & balanced). I can get the Toyos the same day but Falkens would be a few days. I've read mixed reviews with the T1R's but only good reviews with the Falkens.

I'm not shure when I will get my Buddy Club P1 QF track only wheels, so these will be street tires to. I was going to go to 235's but I haven't rolled my fenders. Has anyone tried both of these?

The RT615s are pretty much as grippy as you can get without moving up to Rcomps. Or so autocrossers say, I've never owned a set.

Just curious, if you are only replacing the fronts why don't you get the same as what you have on the rear?

The rears are discontinued Pirelli P6000 and have 1/2 tread life left. The Azenis don't come in 255's for the rear, so if I get those in the front I will have to get diferent rears again. That's pretty much the only reason I considered the Toyo's, and I can get them same day.

I may not even keep these wheels. I'd like to run 315's in the rear or all around. At the very least maybe 18x10 for street use.

Ack, those pirellis are absolutely the *worst* tire I have ever run on my FD. I can't believe you're getting traction with them with your 500R. I say go to Azenis at all four corners, a friend with a 550 rwhp s/c'ed Cobra runs them in 275s and they grip pretty damn well considering all the torque. The car is also ok in the rain, you just have to be careful.

haha, I can't drag race with them cause they just slip in every gear and the car stands still. They have been ok on the street and good in wet. I forgot the new Azenis comes in 255's, it was the older version that stoped at 245 width. So I can match them. My old Yoko A032 made me nervous in the rain and didn't work well cold. OK, Azenis it is and i'll drive the truck when it rains "lol".

Thanks for the feedback!

I would go with the T1-R or even the kuhmo mx, the rt615's are supposed to be fantastic for dry autox, but not so great in the wet. If you're getting a set of track wheels anyway, I would get a tire that does well in the rain for your street wheels.

^Agreed on the pirelli P6000, I have also had them on my 7 and they were horrible! They don't belong on a sportscar imo.

This is good advice as well. Sometimes I get stuck in 'extreme performance mode,' for street tires the t1-r and mx are also good choices.

i have rt615s and they're ok for slight rain, as long as its not starting to flood. a lot better than the 215s but they're not meant for spirited wet driving. i heard bridgestone re01r are pretty good, not sure how they handle in the rain or if they have the size you're looking for. also, yoko advan neovas are standard apps for the elise.

if you're looking for maximum dry traction for street tires, i know the azenis are good but i also heard hankook rs2 are comparable. i've heard of t1R treads coming apart during hard street driving, but i havent seen that for myself.

RT615 if i had a choice

if you're worried about wet, get some leftover ST115s. i had them before my current T1R and they felt much more confident in the wet.

cheers

Well, from what I've read: The people that loved the T1S, hate the T1R. The people that never had the T1S, like the T1R.

I guess don't get them expecting them to be better (or even the same).

The T1R is kickass.

Toyo has alot of rice tire sizes so they reinforce most of the sidewalls on the T1R. a 235/40/17 with the same load rating as the RT615s REINF 225/45 is pretty killer. Also they don't wear too bad with alot of static camber.

They Grip really well and wear really well, I've never noticed them get particularly greasy after a couple laps on the front. The load rating helps since you can scew up and put the front down hard on them and they'll still bite. Sidewall isn't as tight as say a bridgestone, but they definately lag less than ST115 or such.

I'll definately buy them agian.

i read on this forum i belive that the t1r doesnt have as stiff a sidewall as other tires it is compared to, and its a good comfy sticky street tire but the turn in and such lacks because of not as stiff of a sidewall
just more heresay

I've been eyeing up the re01r's and the advan neovas. But am limited to only the re01r in 225/50R16 w/ my current set of wheels.

Would like to run 245/45R16 until I can get somethin bigger
