Axxis Ultimates for stock FD brakes?

I've read lots of positive comments about the ultimates as a street pad, but I can't seem to find a part number for the stock brakes (front or rear). The application guide doesn't show them as available either but those are often out of date.

Is anyone running the ultimates on their stock FD brakes? Or are all the comments from running them on AP/Stoptech, etc.?

I have them on my daily driver (SC300). And while this may be slightly different for a FD...here is what I have to say.

The Axxis Ultimates dust A LOT!
The first few thousand miles...the pads were squeeling like a banshee. This was due to the high amount of metal in the pads composition. It squeeled so much coming to a stop that it was downright embarrassing.
In terms of heat....when the pads get hot, I experienced a bit of fade. The stopping distance was definitely reduced.

Now I switched to a set of Hawk HPS.
I'm MUCH happier w/ the set of Hawks. Hands down.

The pad composition may be different for an FD application, but I thought I would post my feedback based on my SC application.

That is about the exact opposite of my experience with axxis vs. hps on the rx7.

Me too, the Axxiss pads have higher friction than the HPS pads, have pretty low dusting (and dust is easier to get off than Hawk dust too), and have NEVER squealed once. I can't speak on fade as I have big brakes.

Honestly, Dom, it sounds like you are describing Hawk HP+ pads to me, which is why I don't run them anymore.

Really? Damn. I know for a fact...for their SC application, the pad composition is HORRIBLE in that they dust like crazy.

They may have switched their formulation for the FD application then. (May be different formulations for each vehicle model).

But I definitely am running the Hark HPS on my SC.

Dom, you sure you're not talking about the other Axxis model just below the Ultimates? They have a higher % metal composition. IIRC, the Ultimates have more ceramic and other stuff.

I've been looking for some Axxis Ultimates myself but have been having issues finding a vendor who stocks them. I suppose I'll try Zecken or ebay if I get desperate.

I'm positive. I purchased my pads direct from Stoptech. (I picked it up at their facilities, as I lived nearby at the time). Came w/ Axxis packaging w/ Ultimates on it.

I believe Zeckhausen may be a dealer for Stoptech...so Stoptech may be low on supply as well.

I love my Ultimates. They dust a bit but it's nothing that can't easily be cleaned every once in a while. They also don't squeak at all, so maybe you were running a different level of Axxis pads?

I've got a full set of ultimates coming so hopefully I'll have some feeback later on. I don't know about the FD, but I've used many different pads on my type r and I would never get another hawk pad (HP+ I think it was) because the brake dust was corrosive and turned into cement when it got wet. I currently run carbotech panther+ pads that perform the same or better and they dust a lot too but at least it wipes off easily...

Dom - I've had the exact opposite experience as well.

I have them on a 540 and am quite pleased, dust a lot less than OE, stop extremely well, especially as they heat up. I was impressed with them when I took them to the track. The dust cleans up a lot better than the HP dust.

If they can stop ~3800 lbs well, I'm sure they will work fine for your FD. Make sure you bed them in.

Im with DOMFD3s. Mine dusted like crazy. Not much of a problem though I still give them a thumbs up. I have never tried the hawks but I know two people that have and they love them, but they make ALOT of noise.
