Has anyone passed the Greddy Type S on a shock dyno.

Some things look good:

Rates - 10/8kg,
32 adjustements (However, if not linear and widespanning completely useless)
46mm diameter piston
Monotube
Same spring adjustement as Tein Flex, Cusco Zero 2-e etc.
Straight 200mm springs which means they are easy to find replacement in different rates such as 8/6kg, which Greddy offers.

Also, strangely looking at the pictures of the RE-Amemiya Super Street damper the Greddy looks like a spitting image of it which is not surprising as RE-Amemiya and Greddy work toghether all the time.

 

i have them on my 93 touring and love them just time for corner balanceing

I translated the Amemiya text on their coilovers and effectively they do seem to be exactly the same.

I have tried contacting Greddy but the only email I can find is their I.T guy who is in charge of their website

If anyone has any contact information it would be really appreciated.

 

I have searched and found that alot of people have been looking for information on this coilover. I guess I will have to be the guinea pig and try it out because even the pink/black color combo still can't disuade me from these coilovers.

Looking on the Amemiya site they have identical specs to the Amemiya Street Damper. After searching on the Yahoo!Japan.auctions site here is all the information I found.

10/8kg spring rates
32 click adjustement (They have shock dyno's but not arranged as the one's posted for other brands)--This too many clicks is one of the only things throwing me off this coilover
Needle Valve Design-- as used by Tanabe, Tein, HKS, JIC
200mm Front free spring height
200mm Rear free spring height (Although I have seen conflicting reports of 180mm free spring height)
65mm ID Straight springs (Although listed replacements on Greddy.com are 62mm)
Possible +2kg upgrade in rates for free.
Monotube construction using a SS body with a 46mm piston (FWIW same piston size as Apexi Pro N1 and Street N1 Japan coilovers)

Finally, Front is adjustable +56mm to -57mm and Rear is adjustable +43mm to -34mm. When comparing to Tein Flex is F: +22 to -77mm w/ initial height of -28mm, R: -17mm to -75mm initial height of -29mm.

It would be nice if we could find a figure on the initial height decrease of the coilovers. However, looking at the adjustable spectrum they seem virtually identical.

For the price I am getting these I have a hard time buying Tein's, when I get them I will post as much as possible about them.

I got them and they look exactly like that. Only thing that worried me was that on the springs the Greddy is a sticker, but the box looks more than original and the place I ordered from claims to be an official distributor plus the instructions are in Japanese.

On a sidenot does anyone know where I can find an english manual for these coilovers.

 

have you installed them yet? Im waiting to pull the trigger on these until you say they are good stuff

 

I have installed them for awhile, it is doing a complete Superpro bushingkit installion that has set me back awhile. In two weeks I will have a review of them for your. Especially, with Tein's crazy price increase I think it makes these the way to go.

 

Just wanted to say. I don't know how this little mishap passed through GReddy but on the front shocks the bushing is 50mm wide and the size for the arm is 49.25mm so mine needed some filling.

 

Is that 49.25 with the sleeve pushed all the way back in the arm?

I don't know what you mean but it is 49.25mm on mine anywho where the bushing goes in to.

 

There's a sleeve/bushing pressed into the arm that the bolt goes through, which cinches down on the lower shock bushing when you tighten the bolt. This can be pushed back into the arm some to open that gap up when installing shocks. I just figured I'd ask since it would be surprising to me if Greddy got that dimension wrong.

 

Hmmm no clue. I am talking about metal on metal contact. Push shove hammer, nothing was moving when I first got them. Hope I didn't put them in too much danger by filling them.

The update is finally I ended up going with the Greddy Coilovers and I could not be happier. It rides smoother than shocks/springs combos, shock travel is great. Also the height adjustement is amazing even with the car slammed and on soft settings there is still no rub etc. I really recommend this to everyone out there looking for a good set of coilovers.

 

Excellent news.... I have been considering these, but have had a hard time finding any data on them.
