I used the silvervein (EvilPneevil posted a sample of it)on mine for the center of my two tone look, and it's friggin awesome. The center caps however, because of that were impossible to match, so I said screw it and I run my wheels nekkid, without center caps. Looks pretty darn good, IMHO. You can see some photos of it in my thread, no closeups however, but the finish looks exactly like the sample swatch.
As for your question, unless that paint is already peeling off, you could paint right over it. If it doesn't hold, you could always redo it later, but it'll probably work just fine. Most solvents that will take off the paint could screw up the plastic as well, so I wouldn't even try it; the plastic used in these centercaps is pretty weak stuff.
Good luck.

Like I said...........
Just make sure the solvent doesn't eat up or make the plastic mushy..........

I know that most solvents will screw up the cheap *** plastic that Mazda uses on the $40 each center caps, so I'll try the high pressure wash, and if the paint holds up to that, I'll just paint over it. I'm sure I can find a spray paint that closely matches the Gun Metal gray powder coating

Dude, I'm trying to sell you hard on the silvervein.
It looks great and from 10 feet away you wouldn't know the difference because it IS a gunmetal color, but when you're up close the finish is beautiful...............
J/K do whatcha want, it's your car........ and it would probably mean running without centercaps, because no way will you match em. I tried spraying them gray the other day and then trying "dusting them" with black...........got it pretty close and then decided they look better nekkid anyway................kinda like my wife............

Just kidding!
I like the silver vein, but I want a smooth look and texture, and that looks to have a rougher texture than the Steel Gray.
I appreciate the hard sell, and your wheels do look sweet, just not exactly how I want mine
The next big question is can Batman sell cans of the matching wet paint if you don't use him to have the wheels powder coated? If so, please let me know, or PM me with a price and turn around!

Sure, I got nekkid pics of my wife......... I just keep em all to myself.............or, for a mere $20 per month (or 3 easy payments of $7), you can subscribe and see her at www.slapandtickle.com, or the more hardcore stuff at www.nunsandnazis.com.....
Post pics after you get your wheels done...........actually the silvervein with the clearcoat comes out smoother than a baby's butt..............the pics just make it look bumpy.............

Here's mine...
Not saying that BATMAN's guy doesn't do a good job, cause he does. All his rims look badass. BUT, if some of you out there are looking for a more cost effective solution, try to find a place in your area that does industrial type jobs. I found a company local to me that does all of the powder coating for Boeing. They do a damn good job, have every possible color (including metallics), and best of all, it cost me $80 for all four rims.

That's a good price...... does that inlcude stripping it down to the metal and bead blasting?
Or is it just powder coating and you must provide the prep'd metal?

I do not need the powder coat, as I have a local shop that does nothing but powder coat. Thanks anyway though!
Let me know if I can buy a can of the Steel Gray wet paint. If not, no big deal, if so, let me know how much $$ and how you would like to be paid (paypal, M.O, etc...)
Thanks again for all of you help!

Your car looks so sick Batman! The black on black looks incredible. I'm getting my wheels done this Saturday (11-23-02), and will post some pics once they are finished.
Thanks again for all the help and suggestions!
