i have the A509's 205/60/14 on my GSL-SE. they need to be replaced now and apparently they don't make them anymore. i would buy them again in a second. great in the rain and they lasted about 75,000 km (i wasn't too rough on 'em)

I have AVS sports, same size as Johnny..235x40x18 and 265x35x18...

I have been happy with them dry or wet, took them autocrossing and they stuck better then I could drive.

I would be tempted to check out S-03's also.......can't go wrong either way

Good Luck

Thanks people! I love Yoko's and if I didn't, I wouldn't use another brand, since my Impreza is using them right now...

I have Yoko Ono's

I use the A032R's (I think that's what they are) and they are excellent. I don't really like the fullerton office though since I did some computer contract work there and the supervisor has his head up his rear but I do love the tires.

Good stuff, I'm sticking to Yoko's whether for summer race tires, or winter tires, both are great!

I race in a class called 'Improved Production' racing in Australia. In this class we have a control tyre of A032R's (Yoko), when we went to these many people complained but now everyone is pretty happy.

The biggest problem is 'older' cars pre 86 have to run 60 profile tyres, so fairly dangerous with tyre wall flex etc, in (for example) my RX7 that produces 240hp at the wheels (non turbo 13B bridgeport)!

Overall very happy with them though.

Yes!

I highly recommend Yokohama. I've got a set on my 85 GS and they're excellent on snowy, rainy and dry roads. They've got great tread depth AND are rated #1 in Consumer Reports! Check them out!

Rotor on!

I have the A032R on my FC now
225/50/16 front
245/45/16 rear

They stick like glue.

I have alost used the A038 and A048 on my car in Thailand and when I lived in Japan. I sure do wish
they sold those tires in the states.
maybe with Lancer Evo coming next year they will sell the A048 or A038 in the states

It sounds like you guys think the yokohama AVS interemediates are pretty good. But what about a size now. I ma looking at 205-60-13's how do you think those will perorme? These are for my rx-3 and 205 is as wide as i can go without rubbing on the front springs and that is already with spacers. and they dont make 50 series tires in 13 inch 205's they make em in 215 but those are to wide. So do you guy think they will work alright?

Depends on the width of the rim. For max performance, go with a rim width that is 90% of the tire's section width...7-inch wide rim for a 205-mm (8.1-inch) wide tire.

Rotortuner: 205/60R13 will be just fine on 7" rims. AVS Intermediates are good tires for the money.

I run A032Rs on my 1st gen. I ran 11.8 @ 118mph on them and ran a 1.7 60 ft.

Let them down to 20psi and do a big burn out....

More comfy with A032's

The AVS Intermediate didn't seem to last as long and din't feel as confident in the rain.

$106 each for 255/40-17? Who cares about mileage? I've recently taken mine out in the rain. The wide 255s, at full tread depth, had me feeling quite confident at 90 mph in a good downpour. Low speed cornering maneuvers in the wet are no problem for the AVS I's

I have A510 235/50/16 (front) & 245/50/16 (rear), I used them for street only after I got my BFG g-Force R1s for track.
I went lapping once with A510, I can say it is a street tire only, after 3 hot laps it begain to slid. I do get wheel spins when the road is wet.
So I am thinking of another type of tires that have better traction on wet roads.
As for race use I highly recommand BFG g-Force R1s, it is one of the greatest tires you can get for track. The side wall is sooooo stiff and the tire is soooo sticky, you don't slid. It is great, I will buy another set if mine needs replacement. Also their tread wear is pretty good compared with others, I have them for 2 seasons and I go to solo2 events and lappings. I would say I got to 6 solo2 and 3 lapping in a season and after two seasons the tires are still pretty new to my surprise.
