Shouldnt you be doing 235/40 on a 17" rim. Its gonna throw your speedo off if you dont. Unless...you're getting it recalibrated?

No. 235/45 17 is the correct tire size.

No....245/45 16 is a proper size for 16" wheels, just a hair smaller diameter than stock. A 235/45 17 will be about 0.4" taller than stock, which is an acceptable variance.

That's correct. The '99+ FD 17x8 front wheels came w/ 235/45-17.

Any FD with aftermarket wheels/tires has SOME potential for rubbing either the fender liner, or pulling the fender lip up front, particularly if it's lowered. Most aftermarket wheels don't come with the +50 offsets of the stock wheels, and you add a little extra diameter and width, along with lowered ride height, and there's potential that varies with each combo.

235/45/17 is the correct size. As stated, the '99's come with that size. Depending on wheel width, you might also try 245/40 or 255/40's as well. I'd always suggest getting the fenders rolled however. All you need is a good bump or transition with the wheel turned, and you've got a pulled lip.

My biggest worry is pulling the fender lip, I just picked up some Borbets, 17X8 fronts and 17X9.5 rear.

Im gonna go with the 235/45ZR17 by yokohama AVS ES100, the back tires currently are 265/40ZR17 but im thinking of going with 275/40ZR17 when the tires are needed as the have 25%tread left and Yokohama dosnt make a 265/40ZR17 to replace the Kumho thats on it now.

I did buy a fender roller but am leary of cracking the paint and want to practice before I roll my fenders. but want to install tires now without majior worries.

The trick to rolling without cracking the paint is to use a heat gun or similar to soften the paint... you don't want to overdo it though. I'd see if there's a shop around who can do it for you.

If you put them on, the places to be careful are when you're pulling in someplace or going around a corner with the wheel turned and there's a bump or transition... it'll be the inside wheel.
