AGXs vs. swaybars
AGXs vs. swaybars
So I am almost finished paying off my new tires and my exhaust is almost done so whats next? Should I get some AGXs or new swaybars, and if swaybars, what brand? I've got a 1990 GXL with TII rims wrapped in 225-50-16 BFG G-Force Sports and RB springs.

Your talking apples and oranges here....
They are both suspension parts, and they both affect the ride.... however, they "taste" completly different..
Sway bars control body roll.... shocks do not. OK... thats not EXACTLY true.. shocks can dampen the RATE at which the body rolls, but it will eventually (tenth of a second) roll just as much with a hard shock as with a soft shock.....
a heavier sway bar takes more force input to make the body roll a given degree.. a shock resticts how fast it does it.
You will se a greater difference with the shocks in control of the car, but the car will "feel" tighter with the swaybars..
shocks keep the tires in touch with the road, sway bars keep the car level.
If your present shocks are blown (like mine), get the AGX's, sway bars with bad shocks is still going to be a crappy conering car because the tires will be dancing around!!!!
If they are OK, get the sway bars.... (sway bars have 50X the life of the shocks BTW!!!!!.. so much more bang for the buck!!!!)
BUT.... I'd eventually get both...
ME... I got the sway bars first cause at the time i only had 200 bucks to spend and i've decided that I'm not putting junk on the car... the only shocks you can get for 200 bucks for all four... are junk (well, close to stock...at least) If you got the cash, get the shocks...

Yeah I plan to get both, I was just curious as to what would be the best performance benefit. Ive got KYB GR-2s in the front and Gas-Adjusts in the back now and I guess those are a little better than stock, fomr what I hear. I have to find a LSD before this tho as I am sorely in need of one.
