Advice/Testimonial Needed: Greddy Type S Coilover or Koni Yellow/RS*R Springs

Hey everyone - I need some advice as I am about to pull the trigger on some kind of suspension setup.

I have a 93 R1 with stock suspension. The shocks are just about gone, so instead of replacing them w/ stockers, I figured I would go with something adjustable. I only use the car for street use, but could see myself getting into the auto-x scene (just for fun, not for competition), and even taking it to a track once in awhile. Also, the R1 rides a little to stiff around town, so I woudl like something w/ the same aggressive posture, but slightly softer when touring.

I am curious if anyone can provide me their recommendation based on my type of use listed above:

Do I go with:

- Koni Yellows & RS*R Springs (5 way adjustable I think)
- Greddy Type S Coilovers (fully adjustable)

Much appreciated!

Steve

Koni shocks
Stock springs
Set the spring perch in the middle for some slight lowering

Very comfy street setup and will be enough for some occasional autox until you get better.

does stock = R1 springs?

I'd be ok w/ that setup I think.

I believe the springs are the same on R1 and other models. I think its the shock valving that changes.

FWIW, look up DamonB's mods (or lack thereof). He is a top level autox guy.

I think your better off with the Tein superstreet or flex then the greddy set-up.

I had Greddy Type-S on my 350Z and they were great. FWIW I have Tein SuperDrifts on my FD and on full soft it's definitely a good quality ride. Not too stiff or bouncy or anything. Of course, I live in AZ where the roads are fairly smooth. I can't speak for MD.
