Please help: Adjusting shocks

I just picked up a 93 rx7 and the car is pretty awesome. The last owner put some adjustable shocks on it, tokico illuminas, however, there is no indicator for me to figure out how to adjust it. I turn the thing with the screw driver but it just keeps on turning. Anyone got any ideas.

Theres a little cap with numbers thats missing on each Illumina. The Illuminas are 5way adjustable and the adjuster screw just keeps on turning. You can probably get these little caps from Tokico for a few dollars.

so is it natural that these spin freely around? I thought they might just have like 5 clicks but it just goes around and around and one side the thing is pushed out. I was trying to mess with it trying to make my car stop bouncing from right to left over bumps. Having some issues figuring out how to put the cap on so I have a point of refence. It seems like I can put the cap on anyway I want...any advice?

They shouldn't spin "freely". Their should be little kind of like notches as you spin the adjuster for them to rest on for the 5 different settings. Here's an old and very bad picture I took of the adjustment ****:

If you can spin the adjustment freely and you never feel a little resistance where it should stop for the 5 different settings, then your shocks are probably damaged.

Here are some pictures. (I don't know mechanics, but at least I know photography)

This is the front left shock. The flat section on the top of the shock orients the cap that should be there.

One with the cap.

5 positions. The run clockwise with the 5th position pointing directly at the flat sections of the bolt. As Mahjik said, if you don't feel a slight detent as you turn the top, then your shocks aren't functioning properly. The shock in the picture is set at #2. I'd try setting at #1 position, and rock the car a lot. Then set at #5 position and do it again. See if you notice a change in the damping.

Haha thanks guys I bought another set off Fritz and realized that the other Illuminas I had had flat sides on both side and that's why I couldn't figure out how the cap goes on. New set on and loving it with the Eibachs. I think I might have original R1 shocks. Thanks again for the help guys.
