99 spec wheels

Anyone know where to get the 99 spec wheels and what the size is? Do they fit a 94 without any mods?

he did get 265 to fit? I stuck with 255 on mine. what brand did he go with?
btw, the 99 spec rims are extremely light. 16 lbs each for the front, a little of 16.5 for the rear.

He got Toyo's yeah they fit good. There are 2 different size 99 spec wheels. The 16" and the 17" he has the 17". They are 8.5 wide in the rear and 8s in the front.

There's actually 3 different types of wheels that qualify as '99 spec. The wheel you're referring to was introduced back in '96 and hasn't changed since. Are you sure your friend is running 265's rear? Thats alot for an 8.5 rim.

I'm also running the stock 5-spoke, 96+ wheels and stuck with the stock sizing of 235/45 and 255/40 Bridgestone S03 tires. I do have an extra front wheel(17x8) available in case anyone wants it. The wheels bolt on perfectly. Here's a pic of my car with the wheels on the dyno.

For 96-98, the cars came with the Efini emblems. For '99 through '02, all the wheels got the flying M emblems. Still, all the emblems are interchangeable between the wheels so you could also put the old toilet bowl Mazda symbols on the wheels.

Why??? just curious. Any tire expert should be able to prove to you with documentation that 265's are well within the approved limits for the 8.5" rim. In fact, 275's are the recommended limit. Also, the guy that helped me out calculated the diameters of all the tire combinations. the 265's more closely match the diameter of the 235's up front. The 255/40's are smaller than the 234/45 diameter. I wanted to go a bit wider without pushing the limits and risking any loss in handling and grip. So I went up one size, not two. So far they do an fabulous job and are much more stable than the stock rims and tires.

just my two cents..... anyway, its all preference. I'm happy with them. Do whatever floats your boat.
